Mary Ann I am in Jamaica and have not seen any guide for this part of the world. I have a few of phaelaenopisis, dendrobium, cuttleya etc but am having few problems as the weather here is not too good at times, some get very brown and their flowers fade easly. What can I do to get my orchards to look the way they should be looking

I have a Phal, rescued from garbage. It’s a happy plant, has bloomed three times.cut back spikes to about three inches long. One spike has a baby kieki with six leaves and roots growing. The other spike has another spike growing out of it fast. Just looked, another spike is coming out from bottom of plant. I live in northwest so not much Sun this winter so leave regular lights on quite late at nite. Do you think regular lights help? Also water with rain water. Do you have any comments?
Also feed twice a month. Would like any input. GLORIA

It sounds like what you are doing is working! New growth and thriving is always the best indicator of you doing the right things. I think the lights are definitely helping and I wouldn’t change your routine because it’s working. Good job, and let us know how it’s going! – Mary Ann

I am in Cozumel Mexico and grow Cattleyas outside, as well as many other kind of Orchids, but I find the Cattleyas the most difficult to make bloom. Right at this moment I have one plant that has the two flower sheaths about 5″ long but I think that they are both empty of blooms. This happens all of the time.
I bought your book on Cattleyas. and enjoyed reading it, but did not see anywhere in it about this problem. What am I doing wrong?
Many thanks, from frustrated in Cozumel

I REALLY WISH you would write more books on the other types of Orchids, there are so many to write about, I know, but PLEASE…!

For instance, the Dendrobium has SO MANY DIFFERENT TYPES; it needs a possible “Series” of books about THEM, alone. And then there are the Oncidiums and all the many different mixed breeds they have made in that Family.
Also, maybe a book about Tolumnias, Masdevalias, and other miniature Orchids. I LOVE Tolumnias they are small, but their flower displays are OUTSTANDING!!

Oh my gosh, I could go on and on…(As my collection has so many different kinds!)

Anyway, your small books are wonderful, I love them, but you have just begun… 🙂
    Susie
PS: I am an outstanding proofreader, keep it in mind 😉
